Hello everybody and welcome back to the Alopecia Angel podcast. I'm your host, Johanna Dahlman. This week has been very, very tumultuous. My AC went out and, you know, working in between the situations that come, but still, you know, taking things in stride and moving forward as much as possible, right? Not everything is in our control, which actually coincides with today's podcast topic of feeling stuck.

I'm sure many of you are probably feeling stuck in your hair loss journey. You're probably have had times where you felt stuck before, whether it was in hair loss or whether it was in other situations, maybe in your work, maybe at school or maybe in life or in any other goal or venture that you take on. You know, feeling stuck is sometimes a good thing and sometimes it's a bad thing, right? I believe that feeling stuck is actually a good time for us to evaluate, it's a good time for us to analyze like what we're doing, what we've been doing, and what we need to do differently, right? Because the definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

So if you're the type that you've just been adding in more supplements and nothing's moving, well, that's not going to work for you. Something needs to change or potentially, you're the type of person who tends to go back to the hair serums or the specialty shampoos or, you know, something different like a new gadget or what have you, and you're still not getting the results. Well, then you need to look at what you've been doing, like those patterns and then how to fix it. Many times we can't fix things on our own. I'm very, very analytical, I love analyzing. This is actually probably my superpower, in all honesty. I analyze, and I see patterns, and I see things in a different way.

And granted, we all have our strengths and weaknesses, but if you know that you can't really pick yourself apart, which I know is very hard to do, pick yourself apart, see where you're going wrong., this is where you need to have a consultation with me, this is where we need to work together and see if that's a good fit. This is where you can listen to our other podcasts, but then also maybe even do our free training because this is where I allow you to see more of what's happening potentially on a higher level so that you can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel because there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Feeling stuck can be and is part of the process and in many ways, right? Not just in hair loss, but in any goal that we want to achieve, right? Because the goal is whether it's losing weight or buying a house or getting a promotion at work or anything else, including the hair growth, right? We need to show up, we need to do things differently,

we need to see where we can do better, right? Once we get onto that path of doing better, then this way we can be more strategic and acquire and get what we want, which at the end of this, in this case, is hair growth. So, here are a couple tips. I have around 6 tips to give you.

My first one is to evaluate and analyze. Evaluate and analyze what you've done in the past and what has not worked, what you've done and what has worked. Start there. If you need help evaluating and analyzing, this is where, in the Hair N' Heal program, we have the intake form and I actually analyze and evaluate you myself, and this is where the magic begins in order for you to start seeing that hair growth, 90% see hair growth in less than 8 weeks.

So evaluate and analyze, you know, do a list of pros and cons. What has helped? What hasn't helped? What's the same thing that you've been doing over and over that is not rendering results? What needs to change? Maybe some of these questions are in advance, like what needs to change is a little harder to say that because maybe you don't know exactly what needs to change, but then again, when you're working with a professional such as myself, this is where that information comes about and this is where things become more clear.

The second tip I would say is ask for help. I'll tell you right now as a type A, asking for help is so hard. As I mentioned earlier in the podcast, my AC went out.

I've been on maybe like 5 days now with no air conditioning and it's over a hundred degrees every day. This week and next week and, you know, we're still trying to figure out this AC situation. And so I have friends around me, of course, who are like: Hey, come stay with me. Hey, you know, bring you and your baby and your husband and come stay with me. In all honesty, I love that I have friends like this. It warms my heart that people will open their doors for me, but at the same time, there's a feeling within me that says a) You want your independence b) You don't want to cause an inconvenience towards others, right?

For example, I know my friend, she's got 2 kids, she has a husband as well. She's got a life, she's got to get her whole life organized every day. The situation is where I don't like to inconvenience people. If I can figure it out on my own, I try to figure it out on my own. That's what I did with alopecia, right? Well, you could listen to my podcast journey about my alopecia healing process, which took me 4 years, that's on podcast episode number one. And I'll say, in many ways, I wish I would have asked for help sooner. And because sooner would have gotten me results sooner and quicker.

I think raising our hand, opening our mouths and say, Hey, How can you help me get to accomplish this goal sooner and faster? I will say that's what successful people do, they ask for help, they get mentors, they go with people who've been there, done that, who see the results, who have the results, who've helped others achieve the same, right? This is why you have so many other successful people in different industries, whether it's real estate or business, in this case, hair loss or in other instances where, you know,

the proof is there, the pudding, you know, the proof is in the pudding and you just have to see it, believe it and take action really.

It's not about reinventing the wheel and taking our sweet time about this. Like if you want to spend the next 2,3,4,5 years stuck and in the same hair loss situation, by all means, that's your choice. But at the same time, I know if you're listening to my podcast and if you're following me, it's because you really do want the hair loss, you want this to go away and you want to live your best life as soon as possible, right? And so in order to do that, we got to ask for help. Asking for help is probably not my strength in all honesty, it's probably not my strength, but it's a learned skill and I've learned to do it over the years to ask for help, to want more help and to say: Hey, how can I do this?

This is where you get the coach, or maybe I need to potty train and, you know, do the potty training, what can I do? Read books, talk to other moms, talk to school teachers, like any advice, any additional anything in terms of getting my baby potty trained or whatever the situation is holding for me. The other thing I would say once you ask for help, and let me just go back to the ask for help thing. Ask for help from people who've been there, done that, right? Potty training is not the same as hair loss. So asking your neighbor about hair loss is not the same about, let's say me asking my mother in law who's had 6 kids, potty train them all on her own is very different, right? She definitely has much more experience than I do because she's had 6 kids and I have not.

This is where we need to be also cautious of who we're asking for. Ask people who've healed their hair loss, ask people who've helped others to heal their hair loss. This is why I do what I do because I've been there, done that and I'm here to help you get to the results in less time. Not anyone, not just anyone has those results and not just any doctor and not just any naturopath and not just any health professional has those results. So ask those questions because you inform yourself off of Google, informing yourself off of, forums or what have you is not necessarily your best bet. Because again, more than likely, all those people are still stuck, maybe just like you are, or worse, maybe they haven't progressed one bit, or maybe they're moving at a very, very slow rate.

And so depending on how quickly you want to go, what your prerogative is, you know, you're going to want to switch gears and ask help from the right people. So that's what I have to say about asking for help. Commit to your goal once again. Sometimes we, we fall off the horse, sometimes we get distracted with life, sometimes things happen and we get sidetracked. That's okay, maybe sometimes we need to coast a little bit, right? I know people who coast in their jobs, I know people who just kind of like ride the way of life and just coast without any ups or downs and they just coast, right? They're just surfing the wave of life.

I would say that once you commit to your goal, again, this will ignite a fire and once you commit to yourself, especially if you do it in front of a mirror, speaking to yourself, this is where more intention is set. A lot of times we need to set the intention whether it's to grow your hair back or another goal that you want to achieve, maybe you want to learn French, maybe you want to travel to Spain, maybe you want to finish painting the room inside your house that you've been meaning to paint and haven't finished yet or whatever it is that you're looking to do. This is key: Committing to yourself and to the goal once again.

Now, if you're happy with your hair loss and you want to continue being with less hair or potentially even bald, then so be it. That's, that's your decision and you've made that for yourself, but if you're on the road to wanting to heal, to wanting to get to this, commit to yourself, because it is a commitment. You are creating a commitment to you, to your health, to your wellbeing, to your future, to your future self, to your best self and to your best life. Because if you're listening to this, you know that your best life is happening right now. Even though maybe right now you have hair loss, that doesn't mean that this is forever. You can stop this, you can achieve hair growth, and you can achieve full hair growth.

Nothing is in our way, except for us, except for us thinking that we know better, except for us thinking that what we're doing is working when it's not working, like let's have a heart to heart right now. Like truly what's working and what's not working. If you're not seeing the hair growth, then something's not working completely. And we need a different strategy, we need a different way of doing things, maybe a different idea, maybe a different way to circumnavigate in order for you to get those results. This all comes in an evaluation and a consultation and speaking with me in those coaching calls that we do, so we can work through the hurdles.

Know that you can heal the hair loss. And again, potentially this may contribute to a different strategy. Potentially this may contribute to a different path that you actually didn't even consider at all. And so sometimes we think, okay, hair loss is gonna be through this very superficial way of healing through supplements, through serums, and specialty shampoos, or PRP, or maybe injections, or this and that and then, it's none of that. And maybe it's something else that's like an outlier and you really need to hone into that. And again, I say this because I've been there, done that. I've been there, done that and I have the results in myself and in others, you know, over 9 years, alopecia free.

I'm so, so grateful for alopecia, but at the same time, I'm also grateful that it's been a one and done. It's like getting COVID or the flu. It's a one and done, like you don't have to get reinfected every time, you don't have to deal with this every time, you don't have to deal with this at all. Once you understand what's going on, once you understand like how to control it, how to mitigate it, you're already on the right path. At each level, you may need a different strategy. You may need a different, you know, area of expertise. This is where honing in, having those consults, asking for help really comes in and not letting your ego get in the way.

Let me just say that, your ego wants to keep you safe. Your ego wants to keep you in your comfort zone, but nothing grows in comfort. A lot of times what happens is that we may feel stuck, so for example, like in a job, we may feel stuck, but at the same time,

you know, once we get to that next level promotion, yes, there's more money, yes, there's more responsibility and yes, it's a little more daunting because a lot of more eyes will be on you. Potentially you're going into management or maybe to the C suite or maybe to another level, but that next level will require a different version of you. Am I not right?

So that next level will require a different version of you, a different way of thinking, acting behaving and doing, right? So the vice president is going to act different than just a regular employee, right? A manager or supervisor acts different than the vice president or even the CEO. And so at every level, it's going to require a different version of you, right? There may be more training needed, you may need to hone in on your weaknesses, and this is what this is all about. We need to really look into the details and look to see where you are going wrong, to see where we can tweak this and make that next level easier for you to get towards hair growth.

The last thing I wanted to mention is that to go with someone who knows. Really, this is key. You know, if you want to excel in business, there's tons of people who are fantastic mentors in business or in finance, you know, they're gurus, essentially. You know, if you want to learn how to do handstands or learn how to meditate or learn how to, you know, speak a language or learn how to navigate subway systems or learn how to build your own house, or learn how to plant a garden, there's definitely gurus for every industry in every sector.

I can't say this highly enough is that there is a lot of noise, there is a lot of people touting themselves as gurus when really they have very little to show for it. One thing that I've done that I did notice and that I do see is that sometimes gurus, not all, but I would say some if they are speaking negatively about others, that's a clear sign that, that there's more work to be done and that it's not as and it's not necessarily a favorable choice. What I've noticed too, is that, you know, there's plenty of people to help in the world and we all can help people in different ways. I appreciate. Everyone who is on a mission to help others, because why not?

I believe this is part of our reason for being is to help others, but when we start speaking negatively about other people, this is where I think it shows the character of the person. And so you may want to see, you know, is this person really helping you? Is this person sitting right? Is this person well rounded? Is this person fits with my values, ethics? Do they understand, do they not understand? And really checking yourself, checking them thoroughly and then also checking your ego.

Because again, a lot of times the ego, as mentioned before in other podcast episodes, wants to keep you safe, wants to keep you in the comfort zone, but again, nothing grows in the comfort, and so, in order to move past your barriers, Sometimes getting that assistance from outside is necessary, but evaluating and analyzing is key, asking for help is key, committing to your goal once more is key. And not to say that within my 4 years of this journey process, I didn't have days where I felt so stuck, I felt so defeated, I felt so distraught, and you know what? I took a day off. I would say, if you need a day

off, take a day off, if you need a week off, take a week off. But commit to yourself and say, Hey, okay, today is July 9th. And I'm going to take 24 hours off and then I'm going to get back on the horse, get back on the wagon, and we're going to start again July 10th. And these are my next action steps.

So for example, I'm very results oriented. This is something that I would probably do. So let's say for example, If I'm feeling stuck, I would evaluate and analyze my situation, what I've done, what has rendered results, what has not rendered results, how long have I been doing this, and asking for help. And again asking for help can look like different things, and maybe, depending on the situation, it's coming out of somebody out of left field, so to speak. Sometimes this is necessary. Commit to your goal once again and committing to your goal is like really having and setting that intention.

Do you really want this? Do you really want to move forward? Do you really want to do it? And in which way do you want to do it? Do you want to do it through meds? Do you want to do it through a holistic and natural approach? Do you want to do it through your own demise? Like, how do you want to do this? How do you want to achieve this? And what does that goal or timeline look like? Do you want to take months and years to get to? Or do you want to do this in less time? Like, what does this look like for you? Because for each person, it's going to look different.

Having that inner knowing that you can heal, understanding that being stuck is actually a time where we can reevaluate and see what those next steps look like. Sometimes we need to pivot and sometimes we need to change quickly. So, for example, you may encounter this very, very easily with travel plans. I recently went through this whole scenario when a tornado struck Texas and I was traveling for the biohacking conference and there was a tornado the time that I was flying in and the time that I was flying out. So I got a tornado like both times, and then of course I got the, the messed up schedule from the airlines all the way through to the time I was departing.

So what happened? Sometimes you have to pivot just like I'm pivoting now with the whole air conditioning situation where I'm left without it. Well, sometimes you have to pivot, you know, what do I look like or what am I looking at? I'm looking at how soon can I get a person to diagnose the air conditioning unit? How soon can I buy some fans and bring them into the house or a portable AC unit? Like, what are my options? What can I do now to create more comfort inside the house?

When I was stuck in Texas, I already saw the line, I already saw all the cancellations to other cities on the same airlines. So what I did is knowing this, I re-booked already, but for like 2 days later. And the first flight out. First flight's out, always come out on time, later on in the day, it's always a question mark. So that's what I did, I booked for the flight, I was supposed to leave Saturday night. I ended up flying Monday morning. I got a hotel on points and I was fine and you know, no big deal. You, you spend an extra 2 days in a city that is like fine, but whatever, bad weather, you make the best of it. At least I got home safe and sound and it wasn't like any big Injury or situation, right? I didn't have to depend on the airlines, and so this is the situation like, what is possible?

Maybe if you have friends or family who live nearby, you would have stayed with them. I didn't have anybody nearby, so a hotel was really my only option or sleeping at the airport for 2 days, so I'll take the other. This is what I mean when I say is like you have a problem, right? And then we just need to evaluate and start getting our ducks in a row and start seeing, okay what can we do to move the needle, what can we take control of now, and then if we need help then let's get the help, right? And so the same thing happens or is happening I should say right now with my AC unit And, you know, the same thing happened a couple of weeks ago with this whole conference and the tornado and everything else that was happening with bad weather and the airlines. And so there are options and sometimes it's not, let's say the most favorable option, but it's the option that counts.

So for example, on my way out to the conference my flight got canceled completely and nothing was available. I tried to look at other local airports or other airports nearby, even like 2,3,4 hours away to see if I could reroute myself and leave that same night. I couldn't, but I did find a flight on a different airlines the next day, and so I ended up taking that one. Granted, all these things create hassle, create stress, but I will say is that, it did get me to my destination on time, and I did get back home in a favorable, safe manner. At the end of the day, you know nothing extra was really done.

And so in many times when we start evaluating, analyzing our own situation or asking for help, many times we do move the needle and many times we do get the help we want. And so don't get stuck. I have friends who are going through fertility treatments or going through, let's say extracting their eggs for freezing. Many times this situation can also lead to feelings of being stuck, and you don't have to be stuck. You have options, we just need to exercise them and we also need to think outside the box. Sometimes when we're under a lot of stress, we think: Oh, our options are limited, our options are only here locally, our options are only with this doctor or that doctor.

I'll tell you from firsthand experience, when you start looking outside the box, you start to see a whole new world open up. I'll say this again, sometimes looking outside the box is your best bet, and I'm happy to help those who are feeling stuck and who want the hair growth and less time.
