Hello everybody, welcome back to the Alopecia Angel podcast. I am your host, Johanna Dahlman and today we're going to be talking about the one thing that you need to propel you further. And this one thing is something that in any department of life and any area of life is needed or else we wither, or else we backtrack, or else the progress goes backwards.
For example, when you start taking swimming classes and all of a sudden, you know, you're taking swimming classes, let's say during the summer. And then all of a sudden, winter, fall comes, spring comes, nothing. The next time you get into the pool or in the water or in the ocean and you haven't swam in over nine months or 10 months and then all of a sudden you do it takes a minute right to kind of like get back on your feet get into the groove and to remember: Oh there's this stroke, there's the brush stroke, there's the dog paddle, there's this, there's, you know, the butterfly stroke, and there's all these different types of strokes. Same thing with the bike. If you've ever ridden a bike, potentially as a child, and then all of a sudden you get on it as an adult, it's gonna you know look a little different until you get the hang of it and you're like: Okay, I'm back on the horse.
What is this one thing? This one thing is called consistency. And when we are not consistent, this is where things go back. So for example, if you were always a baker and you always baked yummy, delicious things at home, and then all of a sudden you stop baking for whatever reason, and then you get back to it years later, potentially that first baked good item that you make is not going to be its greatest. Potentially that magic touch that you had before is not going to be the best. Have you seen this before in yourself? I've seen it in me. And this is why I'm able to talk about it too.
I've seen it in me. Yes, with big goods. Yes with riding a bike. Yes with swimming. Yes with so many other things as well, including Pilates and yoga and everything else. Once you've stopped being consistent, this is where we start regressing. This is where the regression happens. This is where us. going backwards starts to happen. Same thing with building muscle because everything that we're learning and doing is building a muscle. So when you stop going to the gym and stop lifting weights in just three days, your muscle starts to deteriorate in just three days, your muscle starts to wither. So you have to consistently be building muscle, whether it's your brain, whether it's muscle memory for your actual muscles or whether it's another area of life that you want to improve upon. If you want to improve upon in your hair, we need to make the diet and lifestyle. We need to implement. The Alopecia Angel method in a consistent basis. And many times we're not being consistent.
Many times we're not doing what we need to be doing on a consistent basis. And therefore there's regression. I actually was on a call yesterday. It was a group coaching call and one client, saw amazing hair growth in just like the first four or five weeks of doing the program. And so yesterday she comes to me, she says: Johanna, I got off the horse. I stopped implementing things. I just stopped. And I was like, what happened? You were on such a, you know, upward momentum. You were up started growing your hair, you were getting compliments, you lost weight, you know, all the aches and pains were gone away. Like what happened? What, what happened to your luster, your shine?
And she told me it was one comment, one comment from her son that put her in a downward spiral and this one comment led her to kind of give up on herself. And so she joined the coaching call, which I'm so happy she did. And I told her, I was like: remember when you first started the program? And I was like, you came in guns blazing, you told me that this year was all about you. She's doing my program. Plus, she's doing another program on self development as well. And she came in on that first group coaching call, guns blazing, saying: This year's about me. I'm the breadwinner for my children, for my family, and This here's all about me. And you saw the spark in her, you saw the pizzazz in her, the excitement, the self love, the, you know, ready to take on the world and then some. And with that pizzazz, she lost weight. Again, saw tons of hair growth. So much so where, again, people were noticing. People were giving her tons of compliments. People were saying things to her. And then her son tells her one thing. And then that just kind of like derails her.
She comes back to the program, comes back to the call, and says: Johanna, I need your help. I can't, what do I do? I'm like: You get back on the horse. That's what you do. You get back on the horse, we need to start again, we need to do this and do it right and be consistent and not let comments, not let people's opinions, thoughts, and beliefs enter our sphere. Not let noise derail us, not let negativity derail us. And I think this is a big situation with everybody, right? I've seen it now in multiple clients. No one really, when I was going through alopecia, no one really was giving me negativity except for doctors who I just like, you know, doctors to me are kind of, they're strangers, right there. I don't necessarily have a relationship with them. So it's really easy for me to block them.
But I understand how it could be super difficult to block out beliefs, thoughts, and perspectives from those you love, right? Parents, spouses, children. I can see how difficult that would be and thankfully I never had any negativity come my way a) because my family knows like I wouldn't tolerate it. I'm just that person you know I'm not going to tolerate your negativity, begone. But at the same time, you know you're in a fragile state, and they knew I was in a fragile state, and as tough and strong as I may appear on the outside, alopecia got me really vulnerable. Alopecia had me at a very, very fragile state.
And it's unfortunate, but fortunate, that these people, my clients have a support system, have someone to fall back on, have another perspective, have someone to encouragethem and get them back on the horse, because that's, what's needed. And once you decide to do that, I'm here for you. So even if you done my program and you want to get back into it that you've fallen off the horse for whatever reason whether it was a comment, a belief, a perspective, whether it was something some naysayer said or did or whatever the case, you know, life got busy. If you want to get back on the horse, I'm here for you.
And if you've never been on the horse, you need to get on it because this pony is going to show you exactly the way to health, hair and freedom. But the consistency part is key and anything you do, you need to be consistent. You know, when you have a garden and you take out the weeds and you water it, you have to be consistent, right?
Or else what happens? The garden dies. All the fruits and vegetables just kind of like die and wither away. Your plants die and wither away or the weeds take over and kill your plants. One of the two. So it's like on a consistent basis, you need to be watering. You need to be checking for weeds. You need to be making sure that they have enough, sunshine and food and fertilizer and everything else. Many times it's not the plant that, let's say, is wrong or is not blooming efficiently or appropriately or isn't thriving. It's the environment. How much sun, how much water, where does it go? Should it go here? Does it need humidity? It all depends. It's not the plant that's, it's their fault. It's the environment.
And so in the same way, we need to look at us. We need to look at us and to see: Okay how are we supporting ourselves? What are we doing to support us? What are we doing to better ourselves? And okay, if you've fallen off track, get back on it. And there's times where I've fallen off track and then, you know, you get back on it. I've taken a hiatus from Pilates and yoga and it's been a process, but I'm back in it. And you got to get back in it, you got to get back into the consistency. Consistency is key. You can't think that you're going to do something just for one week or two weeks, or even just two months, and then you're done.
I've had clients see enormous amount of hair growth in just two months. And then by week 10, they're like: Oh, I know what to do. I'm going to do this on my own. And so they start taking apart the situation and the learnings and the knowledge. What happens? Their hair growth plateaus, no more hair growth. And I have one client in particular who I'm thinking about where her hair growth plateaued. And ego is keeping her from growing, from progressing, from seeing more hair growth. Ego is keeping her in that safe zone. And so this is a problem too.
I'm showing you the path, it's really easy. Follow the path and you'll see the hair growth and you'll see the health. You will. But the problem is, it's like when we start thinking that we know what's best that we know what's best for us, or we know what's best for long term. And I'm telling you, consistency is key for long term results. Consistency is key for anything and everything you want. You can't start a master's program or enroll into college or even into high school, thinking that, you know, by attending just the first year is good enough, or attending, maybe every other day is okay. It's not. You have to go every day that school is open to do the work, to have the attendance, to participate in
class, etcetera to graduate, right? That's what you need. You need to do everything in order to graduate. And in this case, graduation happens every day. Graduation happens every time you look in the mirror.
Every time I look in the mirror, I see my hair, I see my eyebrows, I see my eyelashes, I see healthy skin, I see health, blossom, bloom, my vibrancy, my energy. Every day is graduation for me because there's consistency. And that's many times what people need to hear and what people need, consistency, right?
Consistency is key to your growth, to your progress, and to your long term results. Consistency is the one factor that will keep you going. And it's okay to fall off the horse. It's okay to take a break. Many of us had to forcefully take a break from many activities for many things that we used to love doing during COVID. But now everyone's back to normal. Traveling, visiting, gym classes, ceramics classes, group events of all sorts. Everything's back to normal. So if you need a push, if you need the encouragement, this is what you need to hear. This is that encouragement. This is your call to action to get back on the horse. To get back onto the horse for results, for long term results for your hair for your health for you.
Consistency is key and everything we do. And this is the only way that we will surpass alopecia, surpass the hair loss. And be our best. I hope this has resonated with you. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at [email protected]
