Hello everybody and welcome back to the Alopecia Angel podcast. I am your host, Johanna Duhlmann. And today we're gonna be talking about less is more and less is more on so many areas of life, but including who you listen to and who you talk to regarding hair loss. And I'm gonna showcase a couple clients and their success, but then also their obstacles with adding in
more pieces to the puzzle which shouldn't be there. So for example, what do I mean with that? So I, as you know, have the Hair and Heal program. I help my clients, parents, moms, women, men, children, heal and reverse alopecia naturally in less time. 90 % see hair loss, reverse and heal in just eight weeks or less. And a lot of times it's amazing to even say this, but
Sometimes a lot of clients start to see hair growth in just two weeks, in just one week. And so this client in particular, who I'm thinking about, has a child who's doing the program. And yes, in just two weeks, they started seeing tons of hair growth. And so she was on the right path. She was doing great. She was, you know, on cruise control, so to speak, and just doing what she needed to do inside the program. She was very, very happy.
However, out of the blue, she started seeing a naturopath. And she went back to her old naturopath just to, you know, let her know how things were going and let her see how things were shaking out. And then all of a sudden the naturopath says, you know what? I think your child needs these supplements. You know, extra vitamin this, extra vitamin that, extra vitamin here and there and here and there.
Lo and behold, as she, the mom, implemented these things, the hair situation reversed, meaning she started to see more hair loss and more bald spots on her child versus the hair growth that had already started coming in and the progress that had already been coming through with the Hair and Heal program. So then she emails me. She's like, Johanna, I don't know what to do.
Johanna Dahlman (02:29.206)
So then there I'm evaluating what she's been doing without telling me and we're hashing out everything that she needs to do to get back on track. And I tell her that, you know, there's certain vitamins that are good, but some of them too much in you actually create hair loss. Too much excess of certain vitamins create...
more hair loss, create more havoc, and this is probably why she was seeing it. A. Because maybe the naturopath didn't review.
you know, the child and the situation wholly, that's one problem. Two, more than likely this natural path also isn't specialized in hair growth or hair loss. And...
Unbeknownst to me, the mom had seen this naturopath and went to her for a different set of reasons and then consulted with her and the naturopath gave her two cents about the situation and the mom in wanting to help her child, right, in wanting to go the extra mile, ended up seeing a regression of sorts. Now,
Fast forward, the mom is back on track, the child is back on track, and they're doing well. So thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and big love that's going out to them right now. Because anyone in any situation like that would be beside themselves, correct? But this is actually a lesson. It's a good lesson for this mom, but then for everyone else, right? Of less is more. And sometimes when...
Johanna Dahlman (04:23.894)
people are giving you too many directions, too many things all at once, and there's just too much information all at once. This is actually unhealthy. And we shouldn't be taking advice or suggestions out of nowhere, especially from someone who isn't specialized in hair growth, especially from someone who doesn't have a track record showing that they can produce hair growth in others.
And then on top of it, this other situation that this mom saw this naturopath for, they actually came up short as well. And they weren't able to produce the results that the mom was looking for. So with that kind of track record, I wouldn't be taking that advice. And I would be very discerning with who you listen to and what advice you're taking. Because again,
A lot of times it's a one size fits all advice or it's a very cheap advice, like, you know, doing a quick internet search and seeing what Vogue article or what magazine article says about hair loss and then trying to implement that. That's not the way. That's not the way. We need to look deeper. And again, even if you want to double down on the amount of vitamins,
that you may or may not be taking, this could also backfire. And so this is exactly what this mom learned. And this is what I wanted to showcase to you because many times that's exactly what we're doing. Many times we are meddling too much with the certain situation, which in this case it's hair loss, right? But you know, this can be applied to so many things. You know the saying, too many cooks in the kitchen.
We can't all be the top chef, right? There's a sous chef, there's an executive chef, there's the people who wash and prep food, there's people who make the sauce, there's the pastry chef. Everyone has their area of expertise. So when you come to me, it's for the hair growth. I get that and I'm here to help. But let this be a cautious reminder that if you do choose to go with a different provider,
Johanna Dahlman (06:51.468)
for whatever reason, whether it's related to hair growth or not, whether it's for something non-related or not, and they're giving you advice, or maybe they're even recommending that you do a certain protocol or adding another supplement or something like this, I would say verify and let's double check that and let's see if there would be any contraindications or any situation that may happen while doing that.
I'm not opposed if people come to me and they're seeing a doctor or a functional medicine doctor or a naturopath or a Chinese medicine herbalist or an acupuncturist or a physical therapist or a chiropractor or anything else. I'm not opposed. I welcome them all. It's all good. A lot of my clients are actually professionals of this sort. A lot of them are functional medicine doctors as well. And that's okay. I'm happy.
happy to receive them, happy to work with them, but at the same time, we need to look at the whole spectrum of things. So this is what we do in the evaluation of the Hair and Heal, right? We evaluate everything that you're taking, everything that you're not taking, all your medications, all your supplements, et cetera. But after that point, I'm assuming that you're on the straight and narrow approach of the Hair and Heal program and that...
you are doing everything inside the program. However, if you go ahead and add in extra supplements from your provider of any sort, or because you read something in a magazine, understand that this may be too much. And for this little guy, for this son, for this young child, it was too much. It was too much so much that the hair loss started again. So...
Let that be something to think about. Let that sink in just ever so slightly and be mindful of what you're taking because again, this should be, it should be evaluated. We should see whether there's any contraindications. We should see if there's too much of something. This is why many times in the evaluation I say, you don't need this. You can stop this. You can put this away. You can give this away or.
Johanna Dahlman (09:14.656)
whatever the situation looks like, if you already come to me with supplements. So let that be something for you to understand, comprehend, and then also digest a little bit. Because again, I wanna see you thrive. I want to see you be your best, and I wanna see you get the hair results that you want in less time. Just like this mom, she was seeing hair results. Her little one was getting the hair growth in just two weeks. She was on the right track.
But I'll tell you, sometimes less is more. Most of the time it is. And so, you know, she started adding one, two, three extra supplements from this naturopath and it all went down the drain. All that effort from the first four, six weeks went down the drain. And so again, let this be a reminder. If you want to take something else, if you want to switch up something, like come back.
Let me know, let's talk about it. I hope this helps and I hope this was fruitful for you because again, I wanna see you thrive. Okay, take care.
